Dr Richard La Nauze
Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist

Dr Richard La Nauze is a gastroenterologist with a special interest the management of inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), advanced therapeutic techniques in endoscopy and also sees patients with general gastroenterology and hepatology issues including iron deficiency anaemia, gastrointestinal bleeding, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, pancreatic and liver disease.

After graduating from Melbourne University in 2001 he completed his physician training through Royal Melbourne Hospital.  He was a Gastroenterology trainee at Frankston and Alfred Hospitals before completing his Fellowships in advanced endoscopy at The Alfred Hospital for two years (learning polypectomy and balloon enteroscopy) and in London at St Mark’s Hospital, a specialist hospital for gastroenterological and colorectal diseases, undertaking further training in large polypectomy, endoscopic and medical management of inflammatory bowel diseases and polyposis syndromes.

Dr La Nauze is permanently located on the Mornington Peninsula with his wife and young family. He is committed to providing quality endoscopy and participates in national colonoscopy training initiatives through the Gastroenterology Society of Australia.

Dr Abha Kaul
Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist

About: Dr Abha Kaul is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist. Dr Kaul manages all facets of general Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and she has a particular interest in the management of complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She is trained in performing bowel ultrasound and is a member of the International Bowel Ultrasound Group.

Dr Kaul completed her Basic Physician and Advanced Gastroenterology training across multiple hospitals in Victoria and Queensland, giving her a broad range of experience. She then undertook advanced fellowship training in the management of complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at the prestigious Royal Melbourne Hospital, including the management of IBD in pregnancy. She is an Assistant lecturer at the University of Queensland.

Dr Kaul has published in international journals and authored a book chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Clinical medicine. Currently employed with Peninsula Health, Dr Kaul is in charge of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease unit. She is keenly involved in education of medical students and is the appointed educational supervisor for many junior doctors.

She regularly participates in national and international conferences to stay up to date with current practices, and has been invited to present at conferences by the Pharmacists’ Society of Australia multiple times.
